The Hotel das Cataratas is located in the centre of the Iguaçu National Park, surrounded by tropical nature alongside the famous Iguaçu Falls. This charming 195 bedroom colonial-style hotel, the only hotel inside the Brazilian National Park, is a unique spot for those wishing to experience the magnificent spectacle of the Iguaçu Falls. The Hotel das Cataratas is the only hotel located inside the Iguaçu National Park in Brazil, adjacent to this magnificent natural wonder of the Iguaçu Falls. There are 195 rooms and suites at the hotel, including Standard Rooms, Superior Rooms, Deluxe Rooms and Suites. It features a large swimming pool in the center of the property. The hotel is surrounded by tropical gardens where delicate orchids grow. Due to the spray from the cascading waters of the Iguaçu Falls, the area is very lush and there is abundant tropical vegetation. The Itaipu Restaurant offers a selection of both traditional Brazilian delicacies and international cuisine. Dining is available both indoors or outdoors. 24 hour room service is also offered. The Bar Tarobá is ideal for an early evening drink which can be taken inside or on the outdoor veranda. Live music is played every evening.
There is no “best time” to visit since the falls are impressive and spectacularly beautiful whatever the season. That said, the rainy season is during the winter months of April to July, and at this time the volume of water is at its greatest – but then the sky is usually overcast and the air, especially near the falls themselves, is quite chilly. By the end of the summer dry season, around March, the volume of water crashing over the cliffs is reduced by a third but even then there‘s no reduction in impact, with the added attraction of the rainbow effects form the splashing of falling water and the deep-bluesky.
