Búzios, the jewel of the east, is possibly Brazil's most famous beach resort. This peninsula with 23 beaches is about 2 and a half hours away from Rio. It boasts excellent restaurants, sophisticated boutiques, and a nightlife that actually happens. Although not yet discovered by most American travelers, Búzios is known as the sister city to St.Tropez and has been compared to Ibiza by European travelers. In fact it reminds visitors of a Caribbean island or a chic Mediterranean resort nestled in South America. This was the feeling of the famous French actress Brigitte Bardot when she first discovered Búzios, thereby attracting the international attention that turned this lovely colonial fishing village into a exclusive world class resort, it is the perfect place to lie back, relax, and have a great vacation.
