Solar da Ponte
|
|
Hotel Solar da Ponte is an exquisitely restored 18th century colonial mansion with a stunning view of Tiradentes set against the backdrop of the mountains. It has 12 rooms, and another five built in a newer annex. All are spacious, furnished with antiques and have a bathroom with shower, mini-bar, telephone, television and ceiling fans. It is owned by a British couple, John and Anna Maria Parsons who fell in love with Tiradentes and whose aim it is to create a unique and hospitable experience in the Mineira tradition. They are very helpful and friendly and will organise walks and horse riding in the surrounding countryside. The garden overflows with different coloured flowering trees around an old stone fountain where you will find the usual hammocks and deckchairs for relaxation. If you should need to unwind further, at the end of the garden there is a sauna and pool where afternoon tea is served everyday. There are many beautiful lounges decorated in a traditional style and a breakfast room overlooking the garden. The pleasant interiors and the good hotel services have made it one of the “101 Best Hotels of the Word” by the Tatler magazine in 2004.The Solar da Ponte has been recommended by Condé-Nast Johansens in 2006.
